KLEIN KAROO TOURING
It's an area of magnificent landscapes and towering cliffs, crystal clear streams and the abundance of trees and indigenous flora - all contribute to making the Klein Karoo one of the Western Cape's most diverse regions.
The Klein Karoo is also one of the the most diverse wine regions in South-Africa. The climate is in general dry and its vineyards grows mostly in the fertile soil next to river banks. A diversity of microclimates allows winemakers to produce a variety of quality wines, including dry wines, fortified wines and brandies. World class port and South-Africa's champion white muskadel are being produced here, as well as an extensive range of dessert wines.
Highlights of the region include the Cango Caves and ostrich farms at Oudtshoorn, the Swartberg Pass, Meiringspoort Gorge at De Rust and the wine route.
29km from Oudtshoorn, at the head of the picturesque Cango Valley, lie the spectacular underground wonder of the Klein Karoo - the Cango Caves. Situated in a limestone ridge parallel to the well known Swartberg Mountains, you will find the finest dripstone caverns, with their vast halls and towering formations.
Cango Caves is the only show cave in Africa which offers a choice of Heritage (easy) or Adventure Tours. All tours are lead by experienced, knowledgeable and accredited Caves Guides.
None of the elephants have been taken from the wild for captivity. The three elephants were orphaned when the adults were poached. These elephants come from circumstances that if we did not intervene they would not be alive today. We did not choose this life for them but we rather chose to give them the best possible life within our means with the best possible love and care
