Welcome

Piet Steyn is one of the most experienced big-game hunters operating in Southern and East Africa today. While adhering to the strict ethics of Fair Chase, Piet epitomizes the White Hunter of legend. An ex army NCO with the SADF, a crack shot and an excellent host, Piet puts the client at the centre of everything he does. His family arrived in Africa in the late 1620’s, so his roots are embedded deep in the rich African soil. His years of hunting in county like South Africa, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Botswana and Angola have taught him how to handle anything.

Piet Steyn offers a variety of hunts in South Africa (RSA), Botswana, and Tanzania.

All hunts are conducted by Piet personally or one of his hand-picked PHs.

“I never pass off a client to an inexperienced assistant.” he says, but will not talk about other operators’ methods. He is an ethical hunter, and has extensive and continuing experience with dangerous game. Piet will keep you out of trouble, but if trouble comes Piet is the only one who can get you out safely.

His favorite type of client? “Adventuress hunters - and beginners”, says Piet. “Although total beginners are rare - most people who come on a first safari in Africa are at least reasonable shots, and have hunted before. But I enjoy the privilege of guiding and educating someone new in the way of the hunt. My clients will track and stalk on foot with me, learning the techniques of approach and how to behave in a tight situation - and they’ll learn what real hunting is about.” I don’t believe in “truck hunting”

Piet Steyn is one of a rare and dying breed, and his past clients often come back - not because this man will ever guarantee a trophy (“the bush offers no guarantee”), but because he lives the legend of the African big-game hunter.
